This course is taught in ten modules.  Each module is 3.5 hours in length.  Two modules are taught each Saturday for five consecutive Saturdays.
 
The ten modules in the class cover the Project Management Institute (PMI) knowledge areas and processes that form the basis of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

The PMP Examination Preparation Class is for experienced Project Managers who are preparing to take the PMP Certification Exam.  This class teaches “What” you need to know to pass the examination.  This course does not teach the application of Project Management Tools and Techniques and is not a substitute for a Project Management Fundamentals Course.
 
The PMP Exam Prep Courses are taught by certified PMP’s from the PMI - NC Chapter as a service to our membership. Classes are for NC Chapter members in good standing. Non-Members admitted on a case-by-case basis. Class size is limited to a maximum of 20 students, with applications accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
NOTE: This class is not meant for individuals who have their PMP and looking to get PDUs. This class is exclusively meant for those who are trying to get PMP certified.


GENERAL INFORMATION: The goals of the Project Management Professional (PMP) Examination Certification Preparation Class are to help the participants:
  • Start the certification process
  • Organize their study around the key processes and knowledge areas
  • Understand what material is relevant
  • Understand how questions are worded
  • Prepare for the PMP certification exam.
QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify to take the PMP examination, you must meet minimum experience requirements within the five project management process areas (Project Initiation, Project Planning, Project Execution, Project Control, and Project Closing) and fall into one of the two categories below. For details, please check the PMI website at www.pmi.org.
Category 1 – Hold a baccalaureate degree and have gained at least 4,500 hours of project management experience within the five process groups during the last (3) to (6) years prior to your application date.

Category 2 – Hold no baccalaureate degree, but has gained at least 7,500 hours of project management experience within the five process groups during a period of (5) to (8) years prior to applying.

Cost: $650 for NCPMI Members, $750 for Non Members

If you are unemployed and live in Wake County,  you may qualify for financial assistance for the NCPMI PMP Prep Class. Visit the Job Link Career Center at 220 Swinburne Street in Raleigh and ask to speak with a counselor.
