Abstract:
With decreases in grants from foundations and government, nonprofit organizations must find alternative funding methods to continue their work. One option to consider is social enterprise. This seminar will provide an overview of how a nonprofit organization can pursue earned income strategies to provide it a stream of unrestricted funds. Come learn about market changes and trends, successful social enterprises and how to prepare for a new enterprise.

About the Presenter:
Naomi Takeuchi is Founder and President of 1000 Cranes Business Consulting, a private consulting firm specializing in business consulting, strategic planning, and financial analysis for small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
She has assisted organizations through thoughtful business planning, effective communication and organizational development.
As a professional member of the National Speakers Association, she regularly presents to executives, board members, senior staff, and consultants nationwide.
Naomi is an Executive Board member of the Social Enterprise Network of the Triangle (SENT) and a member of the Social Enterprise Alliance.
She earned her Distinguished Toastmaster designation in January 2009 and is currently the President of both the Power NAAAPsters and the Speech Acrobats Toastmasters clubs. She recently had the distinction of Division E Champion for the City of Durham and a competitor in the North Carolina statewide District Humorous Speech Competition
Naomi earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Genetics and Microbiology and graduated with an Executive MBA from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business located at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She is a regular lecturer with the Duke Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management and is serving as an adjunct professor with the School of Social Work at UNC Chapel Hill.
