Did you know that there are currently 24 Million U.S. Military Veterans and that 350K transition from Active Duty to Veteran status annually?
Were you aware that sixty-plus U.S. military reservations each support active PMI chapters?
Did you know that we are going through the largest draw-down in military personnel since the end of World War II?
With Fort Bragg, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune all “just down the road”, many of these transitioning Veterans have set their sights on the North Carolina Triangle and are looking to transition into post-military Project Management careers.
You may have seen and participated in the recent NCPMI Chapter survey to determine the extent of our Veteran population and it received a surprisingly strong response. With 486 responses, we identified 174 Veterans with 99 of them credentialed, ready and willing to take on Mentoring activities for Veterans who are interested in joining our chapter.
So, what does this mean for you? The NCPMI Chapter’s entry into the global PMI Military Initiative creates volunteer opportunities to assist Veterans in finding a professional home in our local project management community. What better way to volunteer for our chapter than to help those who have already served us all?
