The first part of my tenure as NPCMI president has passed and I am still hoping to accomplish the key goals set for 2017. First, let us celebrate our successes. A team of 20 volunteers organized the best Annual Conference ever delivered so far. Over 1034 project professionals in the community, 24 sponsors, 20 plus speakers delivered seven hours of Professional Development Units. Attendees are raving about the event. Congratulations to the team, job well done.
Our Chapter has over 3,400 members; one would think that 280 attendees at the Monthly Chapter Meeting should be an easily attainable goal. As it stands, only an average of 216 people, with a peak of 246 attendees in July, attended the Chapter Meeting Monthly. The VP Programs have lined up an impressive list of speakers for the September, October and November Chapter Meetings. Talk to your colleagues; bring a friend to the next Chapter Meeting.
Our main purpose as NCPMI volunteers is to deliver value to our members, and make a difference in the community. Each volunteer in NCPMI plays a key role to carry the mission. While I set a goal to recruit 10% of the membership to actively volunteering, we currently have about 160 volunteers involving each month of the year to organize: CoP, Chapter, Satellite, Planning, Board, …., meetings, mentoring, career, professional development workshops, and the unsurpassed Annual Conference with 40 volunteers working intensively eight months for this unique yearly event. You need to join the volunteers’ rank for new refreshing ideas, new ways to serve, and deliver more and more.
Another goal dear to my heart is to find ways to give back to our members. In the next few months we will pack your calendar with great value and low cost workshops and professional developments. And if you are a volunteer, there are more opportunities for you. Watch for the announcements and register.
Did you know that NCPMI Board voted to wave Chapter Meeting registration fees to the end of the year (if you register online before 4:00PM the Tuesday prior to the Chapter Meeting)? Giving back is our way to say thank you for being a NCPMI member.
Stay safe in this hurricane season.
