Abstract

Writing and delivering winning speeches are skills possessed by successful leaders. As project leaders, we are required to use these skills to disseminate information, effect change and elicit action. Since communication skills are perishable, consistent deliberate practice is needed to remain sharp.

This presentation will provide instructions from a contest winning speaker, guiding our practice as we seek to actively develop our skills.

Learning Objectives

During this session, participants will learn how to:

  • Research, write and rewrite your speech
  • Use word images to compose and convey your thoughts
  • Communicate clearly, directly and purposefully
  • Deliver a message that lingers long after the speech is over
