Abstract
Speech Contests provide excellent opportunities to accelerate the development of speaking skills. The competitive environment causes contestants to spend several hours writing, rewriting and rehearsing the delivery of their speech. This activity requires focus, energy and intense desire, and often produces the contestants' best work.
A speech contest is a project, which offers opportunities to practice and develop leadership and project management skills in a low risk environment.
This contest will involve an inspirational speech, which can also be educational or humorous. It is the start of a process for selecting contestants for the Toastmasters International Contest to be held in August 2019, in Denver, Colorado.
The Table Topics contest challenges speakers to demonstrate their impromtu speaking skills by responding to a topic being heard for the first time. These contests often provide a rich source of entertainment for the audience.
