 stract:
 Most organizations and committees are confronted with the challe
 nge of holding effective meetings. At the same time\, most people feel ins
 ecure with parliamentary procedure most often codified in Robert’s Rules
  of Order Revised. In this discussion\, David Lindquist will show how to t
 hink about parliamentary procedure and explain the most-often used element
 s of Robert’s Rules.
 Learning Objectives: Attendees will get a better 
 understanding of the following:
 
 Why we use Robert’s Rules of Order

 
 Prerequisites for effective parliamentary procedure
 Basic mechanics of
  motions and amendments
 Selected subsidiary\, privileged and incidental

 About the Speaker:
  David R. Lindquist\, DTM\, is a vetera
 n specialist in market research and audience targeting with a B.A. from Un
 iversity of Connecticut and service at the Gallup Organization\, Durham He
 rald Sun\, and AICPA among others. He started his own consulting practice 
 in 2014. David joined Toastmasters in 2012\, earned two DTMs in 2016 and 2
 017\, and is the 2014 District 37 International Speech champion representi
 ng North Carolina in the International semifinals held in Kuala Lumpur\, M
 alaysia. He is currently a member of Cary Toastmasters\, Top Triangle Toas
 tmasters and Bull City Toastmasters. David is also a passionate wildflower
  gardener\, birder\, and member of North Carolina Master Chorale.
