Abstract
Peak performance requires excellent technical skills, but must be complemented by excellent soft skills. These skills determine how one works and interacts with others, and are needed to develop good relationships. They help to create a pleasant work environment, and build effective teams. Soft skills are transferable across several job functions, and are essential to a successful personal life.

Acquiring soft skills is a contact sport, and cannot be developed by merely reading books or just listening to presentations, but rather by deliberate practice. Toastmasters International recently launched the Pathways Education Program, to help members practice their soft skills in a low-risk, non-threatening environment.

Toastmasters International Pathways provide several paths for growth and development. This workshop will focus on Presentation Mastery. Projects in this path include:

  • Understanding Your Communication Style
  • Effective Body Language
  • Researching and Presenting Your Speech
  • Persuasive Speaking
  • Active Listening
  • Connect with Storytelling
  • Creating Effective Visual Aids
  • Using Presentation Software
  • Make Connections Through Networking
  • Prepare to Speak Professionally

Learning Objectives
Participants will:

  • Obtain insights into key projects from the Presentation Mastery Path
  • Understand the benefits of the Pathways Education Program
  • Understand the principles of deliberate practice
