Abstract:
As we evolve into the digital era of wanting the latest and greatest software faster; we need to adjust our thinking and methods of working to stay relevant and abreast with current market trends. Our customers expect value sooner, and our sponsors expect a return on investments immediately.
Agile project management requires a mind-shift, to think differently about the same software or product to be delivered. Demands are higher; this means a big bang release is no longer viable. It is critical to adapt to an incremental approach for delivering software.
The goal of this session is to provide a high level understanding of agile project management techniques to be successful in managing an agile project around a motivated team. These techniques will provide guidance to project managers on incremental thinking, team empowerment, team self-organization and servant leadership.
Learning Outcomes:
Attendees will have a better understanding of the following:
- Waterfall vs. agile
- How to transition from traditional planning to incremental agile planning
- Understanding the scope of agile projects vs. waterfall.
- Traditional project management tools vs. the agile life cycle management tools
- Team working agreements
- Traditional requirements vs. user stories
- Command and control vs. servant leadership
- Status reporting in the agile world
