Message from VP Programs – August 2018
It’s been a privilege serving as NCPMI VP Programs for the last 19 months. Prior to this role, serving as Director, PMI (Global) Board of Directors (2014-2016) has been a tremendous experience. As part of the PMI (Global) Board of Directors, I participated in strategic planning, shaping the future of the project, program and portfolio management profession: reviewing, evaluating and updating the PMI Strategic Goals. This required me to look far into the future, in answering the question: What do we want the project, program and portfolio management profession to be in 2030, in 2050?
With the updated PMI Strategic Goals recently published, stating the PMI “strategy aimed at sharpening our strategic focus, building out capabilities to be customer centric and stressing organizational agility,” I find myself in the right place (serving at the PMI Chapter level) to participate in implementing the strategy, while serving NCPMI community project practitioners.
As part of its Strategic Goals, PMI has decided to focus on the practitioner as its primary customer. Aligned with the PMI Strategic Goals, NCPMI is offering project professionals in our project management community, leadership and professional development opportunities to gain and sharpen all the skills they need to advance in their project management careers. Seminars, courses, webinars, networking opportunities are offered in a more substantive and integrated manner.
This month, at the 2018 NCPMI Annual Conference, NCPMI is presenting internationally-acclaimed speakers and an outstanding group of over 1000 project practitioners gather to talk about, listen to and discuss project, program, and portfolio management topics and about the profession.
Next month, at the NCPMI September Chapter Meeting, we will present a well-respected PMI Global Conference presenter, John Daly, PfMP, PgMP, PMP, Director, Cisco Systems, returning to NCPMI to speak on “Accelerated Change: Project Management in 2025 and How to Be Prepared.”
You can’t afford to miss either one of these Chapter events. Bring your friends and colleagues.
See you on August 13th at the Annual Conference, then at the September Chapter Meeting, September 20th and at other NCMI events this year.
