This month’s volunteer spotlight is…
JONATHAN NISSAO, Annual Conference: Facilities and Food/Beverage Team Lead
Job Responsibilities: As the team lead of Facilities and Food/Beverage for the Annual Conference, you have the opportunity to work with the rest of the Annual Conference core planning team (Finance, Sponsorship, Volunteer, Speakers and Registration). This position includes planning for the food that will be served to attendants of the conference. This position also works with our outside partners like Creative Visions and the Raleigh Convention Center to design room layouts for the conference based on speaker feedback, attendance and registration data. Continuous communication with the facility is required to ensure orders and contracts are in place as needed, contracts are paid as agreed upon by both parties. It is an amazing opportunity and includes managing two other volunteers each year who help manage all the work, guaranteeing great food service and facilities for all those attending annual conference events.
More on Jonathan: Jonathan is a world traveler! He speaks 3 foreign languages fluently (English, French and Spanish). This summer alone he visited 7 countries and 15 cities in Europe. Jonathan has known he wanted to be a project manager ever since he was 9 years old and saw his parents working for two United Nations organizations.
Kudos: Jonathan has been the team lead facilities and food/beverage for the Annual Conference for the last 2 years. This role is vital for working with the Raleigh Convention Center directly with catering and room set ups as well with the A/V vendor. It requires flexibility in meeting both the needs of speakers and attendees including ordering food for consumption throughout the day. On the day of the conference he rarely gets to sit down and always greets each request with the best attitude! No matter what the issue is - he's on it. He accepts suggestions and constructive comments with the spirit of making the role better for the next team. He's a gentle giant. Hats off to a job well done and much appreciated!
