A September Message from the VP of Membership
Dear NCPMI Members,
September greets us with change in the air. The crisp mornings of fall and the approaching autumn equinox remind us of balance and transition. Just as the seasons shift, we also step into a new rhythm—the last quarter of the year, a time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and to set our sights on what we want to achieve before year’s end.
Our Annual Conference on August 25th was one of those milestones worth celebrating. Together, we marked NCPMI’s 40th Anniversary under the theme “Innovate – Grow – Transform: Together.” The event was filled with energy, learning, and connection. Many of us were especially inspired by hearing from Lee R. Lambert, one of the founders of the PMP certification and a PMI Goodwill Ambassador, who reminded us of the lasting impact of our profession and the strength of our community. The real value of the conference, however, lies in how we carry its lessons forward—innovating with courage in our work, growing through continuous learning and relationships, and transforming inspiration into meaningful action.
At the heart of all we do are our members and volunteers. Your engagement is what keeps our chapter strong and thriving. Whether you attend events, volunteer your time, or support others in their journey, each action creates a ripple of impact. Volunteering, in particular, is one of the most rewarding ways to grow as a professional while strengthening the bonds of our community. It is this cycle of engagement, retention, and service that ensures NCPMI’s legacy continues.
Another way you can make a difference right now is by casting your vote in the 2025 NCPMI Chapter Elections. Voting is officially open, and this is your opportunity to shape the future of our chapter. Strong leadership is essential to building on our successes and charting our course forward, and your participation helps ensure the Board reflects the voices and values of our members. Please take a few minutes to review the candidates and make your vote count.
As this busy season unfolds—with project deadlines, family routines, and even early holiday planning—it’s also important to take care of ourselves. The equinox reminds us of the importance of balance, and that applies to our well-being as much as to our work. Small steps such as pausing for reflection, setting healthy boundaries, and leaning on our community for support help us sustain the energy and resilience we need to lead effectively. Thriving individuals create thriving teams, and together we create stronger outcomes.
September also brings a variety of opportunities to learn, connect, and give back. From exam prep courses and leadership panels to our Social Good event at the Durham Rescue Mission Thrift Store, there are many ways to engage with the chapter this month. Each event is more than a date on the calendar—it’s a chance to build skills, strengthen networks, and invest in yourself and your community. You can view the full calendar here.
As we step into autumn, let us take inspiration from the season itself. Change is natural, balance is essential, and growth is continuous. By living out our conference theme—to innovate with courage, grow with purpose, and transform with intention—we not only strengthen ourselves but also our entire community. I encourage you to stay engaged, cast your vote, and take part in the events and opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we will finish 2025 with energy, resilience, and a shared commitment to excellence.
Warm regards,
Dr. Gunjan Arya
