Abstract:

A team of people must adhere to protocol to create a collaborative environment. Professionalism is critical both to the effective functioning of any team and to the success of any individual. Like most social principles, it is defined in the doing. Professionalism is the set of behaviors that you would hope to find in a co-worker; for example a good work ethic, appropriate attire and physical appearance, effective communication, courtesy, and good interpersonal skills. Team members need to be punctual, meet agreed-upon deadlines, dress appropriately for the work environment, acknowledge and learn from mistakes, be courteous and well mannered, exercise control over their emotions and the language they use, act as team players, treat everyone with respect, and consistently perform at “the top of their game.”

This interactive session will provide participants understanding and information on creating a collaborative team environment.  During the session, each of the participants will be given a comprehensive assessment before and after the program.  A handout will be provided to enhance the learning process.

Learning Objectives:

Five Key Points:  By the end of the session, participants will:

  1. Be able to identify their personal “trigger” words and how to control the emotional response they invoke.
  2. Learn 4 tips to handle and defuse conflicts skillfully.
  3. Identify the 4 key elements of good listening.
  4. Become aware of the non-verbal communication aspects that can stop a conversation before it starts.
  5. Understand the 3 hidden rules of dealing with unruly people.
