PMO CoP: Benefit Realization: Creating and Sustaining Value in Your PMO

PMO CoP: Benefit Realization: Creating and Sustaining Value in Your PMO

Abstract:

The question of value and benefit is, increasingly, one that PMOs are being asked to address. How are our Portfolios of Projects and Programs delivering value to the organization, and how are we able to evidence this? With only 50% of PMOs reported as surviving beyond 3 years, delivering benefits and value to the organization is of primary importance for both the Organization and the PMO.

This presentation will discuss the different ways in which benefit and value is measured, and highlight the range of approaches available for capturing project and program value. Included in the discussion will be a deep dive into a more sophisticated approach that can be tied to program delivery, and best practices for value management, scope management and ensuring that the organization achieves best value from the delivery program.

The presenter will also demo some aspects of a PPM system that his organization are currently implementing – demonstrating how executives can analyse and select the Portfolio that will enable achievement of optimum benefit for the organization.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
• Understand the challenges and range of options available to us in measuring benefit and value delivery
• Explore in more detail an approach that can be used for more sophisticated value tracking and delivery
• Explore benefit, value and strategic alignment when selecting the optimum portfolio of projects
• Discuss the audience experiences and how they compare to those presented
