This is a NCPMI Communication & Public Speaking CoP- NCPL Toastmasters Club Meeting. The Meeting includes prepared speech, table topics, networking, evaluations, jokes and multiple meeting operations roles. 

Abstract:  

Cyber security or information technology security are the techniques of protecting computers, networks, programs and data from unauthorized access or attacks that are aimed for exploitation. -  economictimes.indiatimes.com

Cyber threats include identify theft, hacking, cyber corporate espionage; failure of the nation’s electric grid, utility plants, and financial networks. The magnitude and impact of the cybersecurity threats is increasing. Project manager’s organizations and individuals should be aware of this fact and take the necessary steps to increase protection and reduce vulnerability.

This presentation will address the following:

  • Define and explain Cybersecurity
  • The main causes of security breaches
  • Impact of Breaches
  • Systems security
  • Computer Protection

Attendees will get a better understanding of the following:

About the Speaker:

Elmer-Hill-DTMElmer Hill, DTM: Elmer is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and an IT Professional with certifications in Network Security, Network Management and Video Conferencing. After retiring from IBM, he started The ComTech Group Inc., dba Geeks on Call, providing technology consulting and solutions to small and medium businesses. He joined Bull City Toastmasters July 2013 and currently serves as Club President. He joined NC Project Leaders Toastmasters July 2014 and is serving as the District 37 Division G Director. Living in Chapel Hill, NC he loves traveling and cruising with his wife Sharon who is a Past International Director.

  5. PMPs are required to provide their PMI numbers in order that their PDUs can be reported
  6. Please arrive on time in order that the meeting can start promptly
  7. Please leave the facility in equal or better condition than you found it
  8. The meeting will take place at Cisco in Building 12, 7200 Kit Creek Rd, Morrisville, NC.  Click on Location for directions.  When you arrive, PLEASE LOOK FOR THE NCPMI & North Carolina Project Leaders Toastmasters signs.
