Healthcare CoP: Work-Life Effectiveness & Health Promotion
Abstract:
Work-Life Effectiveness is about adjusting one’s personal and professional life in such a way that a greater degree of success can be achieved in both. Effectiveness is not the same as “balance” which implies equanimity in attention between our home and work lives which is rarely achievable. Rather, an ongoing process of fitting the shifting needs of life and work together in a way that makes most sense for that point in time can yield healthy results for the individuals and their organizations. Those results for individuals span the multiple dimensions of health including physical, emotional, social, spiritual and financial. For organizations, the benefits of increased employee morale, productivity and lower absenteeism further the accomplishment of organizational objectives.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand what Work-Life Effectiveness is and isn’t and the key levers to promoting it
- Discover the connection to health and the benefits to the individual and the organization
- Explore the joint responsibility of worker and workplace to promote Work-Life Effectiveness
