Abstract:

Come join us at the inaugural event of the NCPMI HECoP and the Duke PMCoP’s joint PM multimedia discussion group, ‘Beyond the PMBOoK:  The Journey to the Secret Sauce’.  The discussions will be formatted similar to a book club.  For this inaugural event, we will discuss the immensely popular TED Talk titled The Power of Vulnerability, by Brené Brown. Participants are expected to watch the TED Talk prior to joining the facilitated discussion.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn the role vulnerability plays in our decision making

• Learn how to embrace vulnerability to improve Project Management skills

About the Facilitator:

Janet Lockhart, CPA, PMP

Janet Lockhart is a Research Administration Manager at Duke University.  Prior to her employment at Duke she completed a 34-year career with the Federal Government, retiring as the Deputy Comptroller for the Joint Staff, Pentagon. Among prior assignments in her federal career, she managed the nationwide grants and agreements program for the USDA Forest Service, taught contracting and program management for Defense Acquisition University, and managed research acquisitions and assistance instruments for the Army Research Office.

Janet earned the Master’s in Business Administration and BS-Accounting, and also holds the Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) and Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designations.
