Abstract:
Handling Organizational Change in the public sector is no easy task. There are many critical questions to ask to get a better understanding of the change requirements before starting and implementing change
The presenter will use a case study to introduce participants to ASKing key questions, to understand the root cause of problems, need for change, understand attitude, risks, requirement, roles, strategy, benchmarks and goals. The session will focus on the following key areas:
- Asking the right questions
- Sharing information and seeking clarification
- Keeping an open mind, keeping communication lines open and keeping the big picture in mind
Learning Objectives: Participants will
- Understand the importance of ASKing
- Learn how to use questions to understand , respond to change and get buy-in
- Understand how to Keep communication lines open
About the Speaker:
Karlene Fyffe Phillips, MLIS, MDiv.
Karlene is currently employed by the Durham County Government as a manager with the library system. She has served in various areas for 18 years, managing branches, divisions and special projects. She was instrumental in creating and implementing an outreach plan to fill the gaps created by the recent closing of the Main Library.
Karlene is actively involved in Toastmasters International as a way of constantly working on her own professional development. She is a member of three local clubs, serves as a club coach and sponsor, and is currently serving as a Division Director. In addition, she serves as an Associate Minister and the Director of Christian Education at Beacon Light Missionary Baptist Church in Durham.
