Chapter Meeting - January 2018: Modern Leadership

Abstract:

While leadership qualities and competencies are timeless, program and project managers are continuously adopting new leadership skills and modern leadership styles in building high-performance teams.  This presentation will describe Modern Leadership as the key to motivating and inspiring teams that deliver exceptional project outcomes.  The following topics will be discussed with recommendations on how to apply Modern Leadership competencies with your teams.

• Leading by developing trust
• Authentic Leadership – Just be who you are
• Demonstrate Agile Leadership

Speaker:  Tony Johnson, PMP^®, PMI-ACP^®, CSM, CSPO, CSP

 About the Speaker: 

Tony Johnson has worked as a project manager, Agile Coach and Trainer since 2008. He specializes in taking challenged projects and teams and turning them into success stories. Tony has won the CIO Excellence in Action award from State Street Bank, has coached and trained Agile teams at Wells Fargo, Cisco, NetApp, and RedHat.

Some notable achievements have been bringing test driven development to the Cisco telephony team, turning around a troubled data warehouse project from red to completion, and delivering a storage re-platforming project at RedHat.

Tony holds the following certifications in Agile - CSM, CSP, CSPO, PMI-PMP^®, PMI-ACP^® and has contributed to the PMI-ACP certification exam. He's also a certified dog trainer.

Tony lives in Durham NC with his wife and 3 dogs.
