Chapter - June 2017: Are You an Above the Line Project Leader?

Abstract:

Are you an above the line project leader? This seemingly simple question forces project managers to consider the impact of their leadership on projects.

Project leadership requires a conscious awareness of whether you are “above the line” and the roles played by a project team. If you and your project team are below the line and caught up in the dreaded Drama Triangle, you bear the responsibility to lead the way out of the Drama Triangle to above the line performance.

Through this interactive session, you will find insight and solutions on how to recognize the roles the project leader and project team members play. This recognition is the first step in leading the project to function above the line and provides the best opportunity for project success.

The ability to lead a project team to above the line performance is a necessary skill for project leaders to succeed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify if you are above (or below) the line
  • Recognize your project team members who are below the line
  • Discuss the roles in the Drama Triangle
  • Recognize the roles project team members are playing on the Drama Triangle
  • Use The Empowerment Dynamic to break free of the Drama Triangle
