Title: First Steps Toward Agility: Incorporating Agile Practices in a Waterfall Environment
Abstract:
What are the effective first steps toward transforming your organization into an Agile environment? Many people struggle with the crucial first steps toward agility. For many, the most arduous part of transitioning to Agile happens at the beginning—in the uncertainty of how to put the initiative into motion. In this presentation, strategies and best practices to begin incorporating Agile practices are revealed. Real-world experiences working with existing project teams to begin incorporating Agile practices and ceremonies are shared. By initiating practices, teams start to understand Agile principles and mindset and become better prepared to take the next steps on their Agile journey. Specific Agile practices, and how to adapt each one to a traditional environment, are covered.
Based on his experience with Enterprise Agile coaching and leading Agile transformations in organizations, RefineM lead instructor and CEO NK Shrivastava will share examples of successful first steps toward agility. Best practices will be discussed, including daily standups, retrospectives, and many other key Agile practices that can be utilized for success even on teams not using Agile. By initiating these practices, teams start to understand Agile principles and will be better prepared to take the next steps in their Agile journey.
Learning Objectives:
- Develop a strategy to introduce Agile in their organizations.
- Understand the first steps toward agility based on real-world examples.
- Learn Agile practices that can be utilized in a Waterfall environment
