Chapter Meeting – November 2022: Project Leadership with The Serving Mindset
Non-Members $0, Members $0, Volunteers $0.
Abstract:
I start my keynotes with the concept of The Serving Mindset – in essence: changing our conversations from selling to serving - and how we must see ourselves as leaders, regardless of our roles or titles. We dive into how we can Elevate our Leadership and Relationships through The Serving Mindset and how this shift creates the right ripple effects of success for all. I share my own story of being a high performer and hard worker in the corporate world – as an engineer and then a project manager – and how my limited mindset sabotaged my growth until I shifted it. We explore the 3 foundations of The Serving Mindset – the high-level context – and then the 4 principles of applying the serving mindset to your leadership with tangible actionable strategies you can apply right away. I demonstrate specific conversation strategies that elevate the quality of your communication as a leader & influencer. I outline the different styles of communication and how you must adapt to others to connect on a deeper level including exact phrases to use (and some to avoid) in powerful conversations. We end on the promise of higher leadership through serving others.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of my talks, participants learn:
1. How to think with an expansive serving mindset, and why this shift in their thinking must come before action/strategy/tasks.
2. How to identify as leaders – see themselves as leaders - regardless of role or title or other factors.
3. How to build deeper trust through powerful conversations (especially when stakes are high) with simple shifts.
4. How to not just communicate – which we all can do – but also Connect & Relate with others who have different styles.
5. How to drive ideas and invite open dialogue around objections/disagreements, create a safe space and get buy-in and lead with confidence.
