Communications and Public Speaking CoP: Communication And Public Speaking: Why Leaders Need to Learn Improv Comedy

Speech Title:

Why Leaders Need to Learn Improv Comedy

I started focusing on improv comedy because I realized how accessible it really is. We don't need special equipment, just great communication skills. You don't need to be hilarious, just open minded. Improv is the great equalizer because when you learn how to improvise, you can bring charisma and in-the-moment communication into any social situation. On top of all that, it's funny! When leaders learn improv, they add a necessary skill to their toolbelt.

Learning Objectives:

  • Confidence and self-acceptance.
  • Ability to focus and concentrate.
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing circumstances.
  • Ability to be courageous and vulnerable.
  • Awareness of how one thinks.
  • Awareness of the quality of one's inner voice.
  • Awareness of one's emotions.
