Jim Brulé, M.S., M.A.
Solutions Director, Regulatory

Mr. Brulé holds Masters degrees in Computer Science and Clinical Psychology. He is the author of two books and assorted book chapters and articles on Artificial Intelligence, including a seminal work on Knowledge Acquisition.

At Allscripts, Jim is the central regulatory expert for Value-Based Care regulations: Meaningful Use, MACRA, and other programs. Before this, he was the CIO for a large multi-specialty medical center in upstate New York. Immediately prior to that, he consulted to large practices and small hospitals on information security, business intelligence and the use of EHRs.

Jim is in the middle of a long and unique career: he co-founded an international high technology company which automatically read and converted facility maps for the telecommunications and electric power industries, with offices throughout the US and France. Previously, he helped launch a British consultancy in the US, serving as their first technology director and ultimately leading their Artificial Intelligence Center. He was responsible for building the first expert system to take advantage of DNA testing in the provision of health services.

He also directed a consortium of eight universities and a dozen large companies for the Air Force in researching Artificial Intelligence. And, prior to this career, he was a family therapist for a decade, in outpatient, inpatient and private practice.

All in all, Jim brings passion and talent to the challenge of delivering successful results from complex opportunities through his insight, fostering collaboration, clarity in communication – and humor.

And besides, he knows how to tell a good story.
