Agile CoP: Maximizing Agility in Release Planning

Agile CoP: Maximizing Agility in Release Planning

Agile CoP: Maximizing Agility in Release Planning

(Zoom meeting info below.)

Abstract:

Most hardware, be it medical devices or robots, cannot be redesigned in a few sprints. Software-only companies are moving toward automated testing and continuous delivery that eliminates the need for release planning, but many are not there yet. And agile organizations in non-agile companies are often required to make longer-term predictions anyway. Fortunately for each case, agile approaches to product design and manufacturing have been practiced more than 30 years, and agility is easily scaled to the cross-team level.

Learning Objectives:

  • how to plan multi-month releases
  • address stage-gates for any type of deliverable
  • Use math instead of guesses; with minimal loss of productive labor time; while respecting self-organizing teams; and allowing scope to change as late as possible
