PMO CoP: Emotional Intelligence for Project Management Success

Abstract:
Have you ever wondered why navigating difficult situations with managing projects seems to be a breeze for some people? It could be related to highly developed emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence - also referred to as emotional quotient or EQ - is the awareness of one's own emotions and the emotions of others, and the capability to manage those emotions to achieve desirable outcomes. Join us for a fun and engaging workshop as we dive into the four components of emotional intelligence and practice some techniques anyone can use to develop their own EQ.

About your workshop facilitators

Cheron Gilchrist is a project manager with the Town of Cary’s Information Technology Department where she actively manages multiple initiatives for IT and other business units within the Town of Cary.  Cheron joined NCPMI several years ago to transition from a career in GIS and learn more about project management, through networking. Since earning the PMP certification, Cheron has immersed herself with project management and continues to serve in the NCPMI community.

 

 

Dan

Dan Grigg is a project manager for North Carolina State University, working on the Project and Portfolio Services Team in the Security & Compliance Unit. Dan has been in public service nearly his whole adult life, having served in the US Air Force, worked for the Department of the Army, the State of North Carolina, and now his alma mater. Dan Graduated from NC State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences with a bachelor's degree in public sector leadership.
