Chapter Meeting – Nov 2020: Project Everest: Hybrid Agile Strategies for Reaching New Heights in Project Management

Virtual Meeting – Conferencing details will be distributed prior to the meeting

Non-Members $0, Members $0, Volunteers $0.

Abstract:

Alan’s dynamic keynote is built around the two years of planning and two months of climbing that went into making the project of reaching the summit of Mount Everest a reality for Alan and three members of his immediate family. Alan puts specific emphasis on adopting an agile mentality so that we are not too rigid in our thinking, reframing activities to focus on results rather than tasks, developing a level of trust in professional relationships, gaining alignment and commitment, working through change, recognizing strengths, managing schedule and risks, adopting an iterative approach which incorporates immediate feedback, and effectively working together to achieve strategic goals. Alan’s message is about the passion, commitment and resilience that are needed to reach new heights in all that we do as well as the strategies and tools that allow great leaders and committed teams to achieve breakthrough performance.

Your Brain and Work: Know the Challenges
Our brains have not evolved to match the needs of white color business environments. In many cases, the natural reaction your brains have to issues in business goes completely counter to what you should/need to do.

Aside from this, no one trains or teaches no this subject. We brush it under the rug and just assume we will adapt or worse yet, assume it really isn’t a problem. The reality is the problem is epidemic and shows up in the staggering increases in stress-related illness and death and the exceedingly high level of disengaged workers. It is staggering to see the number of business professionals who don’t even know what self-talk is and the danger it produces if left unchecked.

This web seminar will get into the very heart of brain dysfunction when tied to business interaction. The areas that will be covered included:
-The physiology of emotional intelligence
-Affective forecasting and its impact on decision making
-Cognitive biases and its impact on day to day business interaction
-Neuroplasticity and change management. How hard it is to change
-Your lazy brain, how stereotypes and decision patterns are developed
-Self-talk and stress
Within all these topics we will discuss techniques you can use to help you work around the innate limitations your brain causes.
