Communications and Public Speaking - The Collaboration Dilemma

Virtual Meeting

Title: The Collaboration Dilemma

Outline:

  • Simply working together is not Collaboration
  • The Process: it is not a destination
  • The three essentials of successful collaboration in today’s world.
  • o Mindset: Facilitate the proper thought process for collaboration
  • o Data: Gather and share all relevant information
  • o Technology: Maximizing the effective use of technology

Abstract:

Collaboration is not simply working on a team. Collaboration is not simply a group of people put in a room and needs to produce ideas. To collaborate is not to simply log into an application with other people and follow the prompts. Successful collaboration has a structure of loose rules and expectations from those participating in this collaboration.

This talk will look at the basic structure of successful collaborations. It will look at some pre-described mindsets that need to go into the beginning of the collaborative effort. We will look at the data needed to collaborate and seek the completeness and truthfulness of that information. We will look at collaboration in 2023 with all the technical possibilities that are at our disposal; we will look at the positives and the negatives of both colocation and remote collaboration, and finally, we will put it together and we will look at how you can be a better collaborator with your team even when you are not in charge and how you can lead a team to collaborate to practical ends and make your company a better environment and a more successful contributing factor.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand the essence of successful collaborations
  • To gather tools needed as a collaborator
  • To understand how to facilitate collaboration
  • To challenge oneself to use technology to enhance collaborations
