Cisco Campus - Building 3, First Floor, The Vault Conference Room

Abstract

This session will be an interactive workshop where each audience member will develop their own 6-Word Story. Why would we do this?  In Toastmasters and life we learn over time what a gift it is to be precise, succinct.  We have been taught to have an "elevator speech" at the ready.  What if the elevator only goes up one floor?  What if the CEO of your company meets you one day and says "What do you do for the company?" The 6-Word Story can be used in a variety of facets of your life.  We will discuss the possibilities. Our workshop will allow you to develop a 6-word story about who you are professionally or personally.

Learning Objective

The learning goal is to develop a message that meets your needs: emotional, impactful or informative. You will decide how your 6-word story will be conveyed.  I invite you to join us in being concise about yourself!

Higher Education CoP - June 2019: Better Questions, Clearer Answers, Bigger Impact

The Chesterfield | 701 W Main St, Durham, NC 27701

Today’s economy rewards organizations, leaders, and individuals who know how to quickly access and communicate their best thinking. Yet many of us believe that we can’t dramatically advance our analytic capability or learn to think more powerfully in collaboration with others. If you are buying into this myth, you aren’t tapping anywhere close to your or your organization’s full potential. Cutting-edge knowledge work asks for innovation amidst growing complexity, performance pressure, and distraction. In this demanding context, savvy questions and clear, concise answers are our most effective tools for improving focus, engagement, and execution. This seminar will introduce you to the Precision Q+A™ framework. Tested over two decades in some of the world’s most respected businesses and universities, the Precision Q+A™ framework teaches you how to bring the best of your analytic and social-emotional intelligence to the business problems your organization is tackling.
