Communications CoP: Evaluating a Toastmasters Speech

Virtual Meeting – Conferencing details will be distributed prior to the meeting

This is a NCPMI Communication & Public Speaking CoP- NCPL Toastmasters Club Meeting.
The Meeting includes prepared speeches, table topics, networking, evaluations, jokes and multiple meeting operations roles.
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm (5:45 pm – 6:00 pm) Pre-meeting Networking

Meeting will be convened by Zoom Virtual Meeting

Abstract:

We will take a deep dive into the process of evaluating a Toastmasters speech.  Evaluation is the skill we learn to help ourselves and others improve. The objective of a speech evaluation is to assist the speaker to improve, persuade them to make changes, and motivate them to give the next speech.  While the focus of this talk is a speech evaluation, the skills used are transferable to evaluating employees, projects, and meetings where you give feedback to others. We will review the parts of the evaluation speech (yes it is a speech too!) - a big energy open, capturing the speaker's skills succinctly, explaining improvements, and a concise conclusion. There is more- we will look at time management in the speech, how to apportion time to the different segments.  I invite you to join me in upping your game and expanding a skill you are already using

Virtual Workshop Series presented by Apex Systems with Live Q & A: Taking Our Project Management Careers to the Next Level with David Barrett - Workshop 2

Virtual (URL for the session will be provided prior to each weekly session)

Abstract:

NCPMI in partnership with Apex System is offering a Web Seminar Series on Time Management and Communications for All Practitioners. You must watch the on-demand webinar here prior to attending this live question and answer event. These sessions will be free for NCPMI Members and hosted online via ZOOM.

Overview:

  • The project management field out there is pretty crowded out there. It’s no longer enough to be just really good at what you do. You have to be more. It’s no longer build it on time, on scope and budget.   You have to add value over and above the normal requirements of project managers.
  • So how do we add value?  How do we stand out in the crowd?  How do we get recognized in this very crowded field? Our speaker will get us thinking about what we can do to innovate our careers and get to the next level.
5:30 pm
